last night was the first full-band show for The Coveters, so thanks to all who came to the show. you’ll see us out and about a bit more this month (at KGSR’s Live SXSW kickoff and other spots around town), but Dd fans need not fret. the SXSW schedule is posted on the calendar tab, and you can find the DAN dYER trio all over town the week of SXSW. most shows are free and all ages, so tell your friends, bring your kids, enjoy the sun.
speaking of free and all ages, Dd trio plays this Saturday, March 06 @ Central Market (N. Lamar) from 6:30-9pm. then the party moves to Momo’s, where the band will take the stage after Mr. Seth Walker for a fantastic midnight show. hope to see ya.
it’s been a snowy, slow trudge through the mid-Atlantic for the Dd trio these past couple of weeks, but in every spot, we’ve found warm beds, great food, and many new friends, so thank you to all.
the last show of the tour is this Wednesday, Feb 17 at Eddie’s Attic in Decatur, GA, and then it’s back to Austin for some great early March shows and then, of course, SXSW.
DAN dYER’s official showcase will be on Saturday, March 20 at 11pm @ Momo’s, but keep an eye on the calendar tab (or sign the email list, at right) to stay informed about all the unofficial gigs, parties, and more.
don’t forget that on Saturday, March 06, you can see Dd twice: once at Central Market (North) for a FREE all ages show in the courtyard, and again that night at midnight with Mr. Seth Walker at Momo’s.
the DAN dYER trio is back on the road, headed north and east, first to PA, then zig-zagging west, northeast (Canada!), and back south all over the great American tundra. check the calendar tab for shows in your area (Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Chicago, northern Ontario, Lexington KY, Atlanta… phew!) and get out and there and warm up to some good live music.
I’m not sure exactly why I’m posting this, other than the fact that it’s a weird song, kinda long, and hard to play in a loud bar. I set up two mics today and hit record. I like the result. If you listen closely you can hear the muffled roar of a truck that’s passing by, and maybe the sound of the big rubber ball I’m sitting on while playing this song (TMI?). I will surely do some more of these types of recordings. Maybe tomorrow.
As always, this track is “pay what you want”, including $0. Of course, I’d appreciate anything you’re willing to give to support the art and the project. Tell me what you think, and enjoy.
the year’s first release, Spend My Life With You, which is first in a series of new songs that will be released throughout 2010, is available for immediate download… right here, right now!
you can pay whatever you like for it (including $0.00), but please know that every penny we make goes back to supporting the art, funding the next release, and making projects like this possible. it’ll be available on iTunes and a host of other online music stores soon, but right now you can find it right here on the website.
feel free to share it with friends, and please, please, please… tell us what you think.
here’s a snippet from our latest press release, with some details about the 2010 one song per month campaign:
Over the next 11 months, DAN dYER will release a single track each month, leading up to a fnished, full-length, 12-song album in late 2010. Dyer plans to work with different musicians, producers, and studios over the next year to weave together a diverse, original, and organic collection of “soul-folk” inspired songs.
“Releasing a song per month is more creatively interesting for me right now,” Dyer says. “It promotes and encourages more constant and evenly distributed creativity, attention, and work output, as opposed to frantically trying to come up with an album’s worth of material.”
Dyer’s first new release, “Spend My Life With You,” was written this past spring when Dyer took a break from the city limits to spend some time writing and reflecting in the mountain deserts of West Texas. It was produced and recorded with Mark Addison at Austin’s Aerie Studio.
Dan adds, “I’m hoping to have my creative energy spread out over a year, and it’s likely that even more songs will be written in the process. This will hopefully help me to become a better songwriter and build my body of work.”
very excited to announce that This Ex-Mas, DANdYER’s recent holiday release, done with Mark Addison at Aerie Studios here in Austin, has been selected to be featured on our local NPR station, KUT 90.5, as the Song of the Day, as part of the Texas Music Matters series!
tune in at 1:30pm (CST) today to hear it on the air, or stream online at KUT.org.

the DANdYER train has been running at full steam these past few months since we got back from the Texas on Tour road show.
had a great time in Salina, KS, all the spots in between there and Austin, and a fantastic show at the Voodoo Music Experience (thank you, Spin and FILTER for the love and chortles). Dan has been in the studio with our friend Mark Addison @ Aerie, and we’ll update this and other social spam sites once we’ve got some music to share. it sounds reaaally good so far. and don’t forget to download the new live record from Blue Heaven Studios on NoiseTrade.
coming up this week is the last Dd solo show for the year at Momo’s, then to north Texas this weekend, and an early-December run in the southeast — Dd’s heading to Florida, New Orleans, and Atlanta! check the calendar tab for details, and thanks for the continued love and support.
