vive la révolution!

check out this cool shot by Stevan Alcala from the latest Makeout Monday @ The Continental Gallery:

that’s David Garza on the B3 organ and Ephraim Owens on the horns backing up the Dd Trio… it’s been a fun first half of July, so come out and see us before the month ends. every Monday from 10:30pm til… late, and FREE! upstairs from the Continental Club.

since it’s Bastille Day, we should announce an upcoming show at the REVOLUTION Cafe & Bar in Bryan, TX this Friday night! it’s been a while since the Dd Band has been in the College Station area, so rally up, Aggies! 10:30pm show.

and this Sunday, it’s back to the Mucky Duck for a special solo suppertime show. 6-9pm, all Dd all the time.

hotter than (every Monday in) July

every Monday this month, STARTING TONIGHT, you can catch the DAN dYER Trio, with a variety of special guests and friends, at the Continental Gallery (upstairs from the Continental Club on S. Congress) in Austin.

show starts at 10:30ish, it’s FREE, and it’s sure to be a bumpin’ good time. hope to see you there.

the hammer of Thor on I-35

we had a light show greet us in Oklahoma last night as the van rolled north en route Salina, KS. tonight, the Dd trio performs there as part of the Oakdale Park summer concert series, before heading back to Oklahoma for a great night of music at The Blue Door with Albert Aguilar and Suzanna Choffel.

this Saturday marks a much-belated return to Dallas, where the Dd trio makes their debut at Oak Cliff’s famously resurrected Kessler Theater, alongside Bryan Wakeland (of Polyphonic Spree) and Nicholas Altobelli. then it’s back in Austin for a very special show at The Parish, where Amy Cook wraps up her badass east coast tour and shares the bill with the Dan Dyer trio.

then Stubb’s (with Jeremy Messersmith & Daphne Willis)… Coveters at the Continental Club… Dd solo in El Lago, TX… the list goes on. check the calendar tab for details.

hot and horn(s)y :: heating up June

check out this clip of the Dd trio last week, joined by very special guests Grooveline Hornsand forgive the iPhone video/sound quality.

in other news, LOTS of new shows added for June… Continental Club, Saxon Pub, Mucky Duck (Houston!), Bugle Boy (La Grange!), Blue Door (OKC!), The Kessler (Dallas!), and Stubb’s… plus a few more.

check out the calendar tab for details, and come say hello one of these days; we’re sure to be closeby.

turn to where the sun sets

heading to west Texas this weekend for the Marfa Film Festival. Dd plays a solo acoustic show at Padre’s on Mother’s Day (sunday, May 06 @ 8ish pm), then it’s onward to the Pacific Ocean.

Dan has a few solo acoustic shows in the LA area, starting with tuesday at The Stronghold with our friend Tom Freund, a free show at the Apple Store Santa Monica on the Third Street Promenade on friday, May 14, and the cherry on top: a very special intimate acoustic evening at The Hotel Cafe on sunday, May 16. come spend your evening at this special Hollywood listening room, where Dan will be joined by Guatemalan songbird Gaby Moreno for a night of great music. all details on the calendar tab.

peace. love. bbq.

come catch the Dd trio with special friends and guests tonight at Lambert’s, 401 W. 2nd Street. $10 cover, 11pm show, good times to be had all around.

and don’t forget next weekend, the DAN dYER Band performs as part of the First Look at The Backyard all day music festival in Bee Caves (at the NEW Backyard!); 8pm showtime just before Malford Milligan and Carolyn Wonderland. tickets here.

happy spring in your step

SXSW is over, so we can breathe a collective sigh of relief. no more traffic or mobs of hipsters, and hopefully all the brilliant artists and musicians who came to Austin these past few weeks will find fame and glory and return to grace us with their gifts some day. it was a busy week for Dd, with shows all over town, some early, some late. good thing he had the good sense to get around via xtracycle instead of by car. watch a video of the gear-loaded bike here
and here he is on the move.

this is month for rest and recuperation, but be sure to come see Dd’s solo acoustic show next Wed April 07 at Momo’s in Austin, and then again (hey, Houstonites!) on Wed April 14 at Chelsea Wine Bar in El Lago/NASA. all details on the calendar tab.

finally, don’t forget to mark your calendars for Saturday May 01, when the Dd Band plays at the brand-spankin’ new Backyard as part of the First Look at The Backyard concert/party. it starts at noon (Dd plays at 8 right before Malford Milligan) and will feature live performances by Carolyn Wonderland, WC Clark, Kacy Crowley, Suzanna Choffel, and many more.

here we go…

it all starts tomorrow…

march :: back to work & sxsw

last night was the first full-band show for The Coveters, so thanks to all who came to the show. you’ll see us out and about a bit more this month (at KGSR’s Live SXSW kickoff and other spots around town), but Dd fans need not fret. the SXSW schedule is posted on the calendar tab, and you can find the DAN dYER trio all over town the week of SXSW. most shows are free and all ages, so tell your friends, bring your kids, enjoy the sun.

speaking of free and all ages, Dd trio plays this Saturday, March 06 @ Central Market (N. Lamar) from 6:30-9pm. then the party moves to Momo’s, where the band will take the stage after Mr. Seth Walker for a fantastic midnight show. hope to see ya.

the home stretch

it’s been a snowy, slow trudge through the mid-Atlantic for the Dd trio these past couple of weeks, but in every spot, we’ve found warm beds, great food, and many new friends, so thank you to all.

the last show of the tour is this Wednesday, Feb 17 at Eddie’s Attic in Decatur, GA, and then it’s back to Austin for some great early March shows and then, of course, SXSW.

DAN dYER’s official showcase will be on Saturday, March 20 at 11pm @ Momo’s, but keep an eye on the calendar tab (or sign the email list, at right) to stay informed about all the unofficial gigs, parties, and more.

don’t forget that on Saturday, March 06, you can see Dd twice: once at Central Market (North) for a FREE all ages show in the courtyard, and again that night at midnight with Mr. Seth Walker at Momo’s.
