New York State of Mind

(C) Alexandra Valenti

Time for an annual northerly visit to the great isle of Manhattan. New Yorkers, get a dose of Dan Dyer live next week at two very special venues, The Manderley Bar at The McKittrick Hotel in Chelsea (home of NYC’s underground theater sensation, Sleep No More), and Austin’s own export, ZirZamin in the Village (RIP Momo’s). Details on the calendar tab. Hope to see you.

see you later

this Saturday, Nov 26 marks the last DAN dYER Band show of 2011, so please come out and give thanks for a great year, shake off some cobwebs, and enjoy a beautiful night of music with us at Momo’s.  also on stage that night are Wendy Colonna and George Devore.  Dd trio plays at 10:30pm, then it’s off to Marfa for a month of inspiration; writing, building, welding, sky-watching, campfires, and more.

homestretch 2011

who needs cleats when you can win a game in boots?  Dd did just that for Austin’s Texas Playboys Baseball Club in Marfa last weekend.  check out some cool photos from the game here.

it’s been one hell of a summer, but here comes the fall, along with lots of great shows and new music for your ears… Makeout Mondays and 2 Buck Tuesdays happening this month at the Continental Gallery (upstairs from the club on South Congress), more from The Coveters and Dd full band shows, and a rockin’ day of free music benefiting HAAM (Health Alliance for Austin Musicians).

check out the details on the calendar tab.  hope to see you out there soon.

Mondays in May at Momo’s

Every Monday in May at 9pm, you can catch the Dd solo and duo show at Momo’s on 6th and Rio Grande, following Jake Owen & Bob Charles…

it’s been a cold February here in Austin, but we’re hoping to warm it up, starting this weekend with some very special gigs in around the state.

this Friday, Feb 11, please join us for an intimate acoustic performance at the beautiful and award-winning Hotel Havana on San Antonio‘s Riverwalk.  there’s limited seating on the second floor terrace, and you can even get a room for a discounted fan rate for the night… details on tickets and reservations here.

then on Saturday, Feb 12 it’s back to Dallas for a solo gig at the Rock House Films Studio, presented by the fine folks at Swank Presents.  this one is BYOB, folks, so bring your sweetheart and some wine.  lots of old songs from the vault to share with you.

it’s been a while since the full band has played in town, but on Saturday, Feb 19, you can catch the Dd Trio with all its post-hibernation energy at Momo’s in Austin with local outfit Soul Track Mind.

and then we end the month, on Sunday, Feb 27 with another great night in Houston at the Mucky Duck, for a special “Supper and Song” series starting at 6pm.  call ahead to reserve tickets and a good table!

stay tuned for March news, which includes SXSW show dates and times (including the official showcase!), and mark your calendars for DAN dYER Thursdays in March @ Lambert’s BBQ in Austin.  special guests every week (and we mean SPECIAL!)…

concrete and abstract beginnings.

happy January. the unseasonable warm holidays are over, and it’s time to get back to work.  open doors.  close doors.

this promises to be a very productive year of writing, playing and sharing, but we hope you enjoyed the fruits of 2010’s labor.   for those of you who missed it, all the singles and live records from the past year are available for streaming or download (at name-your-own price) right here.

and to honor Janus, the Roman god of doors and gates, we’re planning to go in and out of them a lot this month, starting with a Wednesday weekly residency at Momo’s in Austin.  then it’s off to San Antonio (sorry it’s been so long…) for a solo show with the ever prolific Mr. Bob Schneider at Sam’s Burger Joint on Friday, Jan 14.  do you like the Isley Brothers?  of course.  come see Dd sing a few of their songs at Bemba Entertainment‘s special tribute show on Friday, Jan 21 (also at Momo’s).  and finally, we can end the first month of the new year together, up close and personal at the historic Cactus Cafe with Dd & Friends, Saturday Jan 29.

all these and other show details on the calendar tab.  and new tunes coming your way as early as this week.  adieu.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS and thanks for all the love and support in 2010.

we’ve got some great shows coming up in 2011 (back in San Antonio with Bob Schneider on Friday Jan 14, Cactus Cafe with Amy Cook, Suzanna Choffel and other friends on Saturday Jan 29, and a weekly Wednesday residency at Momo’s), but if you want some company while you shop for NYEve dinner, the Dd Duo will be playing a FREE evening show at Central Market Westgate (South Lamar) from 6:30-9pm on Friday, Dec 31… come out and say adios to 2010 with us.

november :: write, release, write, release, play.

we released two new songs, White Light, and Teenage Hustler, online this week and hope you’ll take a minute (or a few) to check them out. you can stream or download them in any format you like, for any price you name yourself. all proceeds go directly to us (not iTunes, not record labels, etc.), so any and every contribution is greatly appreciated and helps us put out more and more work. feedback is also greatly appreciated, so tell us what you think! check them out right here on the website’s music tab, or go to Bandcamp for the full collection.

also back at Momo’s this month for a couple of solo acoustic shows (Wed. 11/03 and 11/17), plus a full band gig with George Porter Jr. this coming Friday, 11/05! see all details and more on the calendar tab.
